❓ What are the challenges to access publich health services asylum seekers often face?Angeliki Tsiliou, Site Management Support Adviser of NORCAP, in the Lagadikia refugee camp, responds. 👇#inclusion #protection #empowerment#forhumanrightsineurope #forabetterfuture #workingtogether #eeaGrantsCommunity #EEAGrantsEEA and Norway Grants EEA Grants Greece The Norwegian Embassy in Athens, Greece HumanRights360 ΣΟΛ Crowe"Asylum seekers often face challenges to access publich health services", Angeliki Tsiliou says. "This is not only due to language barriers, but often because of bureaucratic requirements. Issues like these might sound technical, but they hinder asylum seekers’ access to their fundamental rights."Angeliki is a NORCAP expert working as a Site Management Support Adviser in the Lagadikia refugee side, in Northern Greece. "Recently, we had an asylum seeker in Lagadikia who needed urgent medical treatment, but due to delays, he didn’t have a social security number. Without this, he would be deprived of accessing medicines without paying, or of free hospitalisation if needed. We reacted fast and thanks to our guidelines, we managed to speed up the process so that the person could receive the necessary care", she says. #inclusion #WorkingtogetherEEA and Norway Grants EEA Grants Greece HumanRights360 ΣΟΛ Crowe See MoreSee Less
